Shea Body Butter

Everyone loves good, radiant skin but struggle to find a product that gives them everlasting results. Shea butter is an excellent nutrient powerhouse that will have your skin looking healthy and radiant all year long.

Conventional body care products can be overloaded with synthetic fragrances, preservatives, microbeads, and many other harsh chemicals. Shea butter contains beneficial nutrients such as vitamin A and E.  It is whipped with other oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, and essential oils that each provide a multitude of benefits that enrich your skin and hair.

Shea butter has been used in Africa and many other locations for years to improve skin and hair.  It also has a long history of medicinal use, such as in wound care and even treating leprosy.

Some of the benefits of using Shea Butter include:

1. Moisturizing – Shea butter is loaded with vitamins A and E, minerals, and essential fatty acids that give it the ability to soothe, hydrate and balance your beautiful skin.  If you live in the Canadian tundra like we do, shea butter should be your skin’s new best friend as it also helps to seal in moisture and prevent water loss. It’s renowned for being an effective moisturizer for dry skin, eczema, and even chapped lips. Shea butter can even help to soften that cracked, dry skin on your heels, elbows and knees. Ah yes, sweet relief.

2. Anti-Inflammatory – Shea butter has natural anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce skin inflammation and heal scrapes, cuts and burns; relieve sunburn and rashes; take the sting out of insect bites; and eases the pain from muscle fatigue and arthritis.

3. Collagen Boosting Properties – Shea butter has been used for centuries to help reduce signs of wrinkles. The essential fatty acids found in shea butter help support your skin’s natural collagen production, restoring its firmness and elasticity. The American Shea Butter Institute even claims that the application of shea butter will diminish the appearance of wrinkles in as little as four to six weeks. How about that Ladies!!

4. Skin Smoothing –  Shea aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying.  With long-term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening.

WHAT KIND OF SHEA BUTTER IS BETTER YOU ASK?

There is a huge variation in the quality of shea butter depending on the manufacturer, so if you have tried shea butter before and haven’t like it, it may have been the brand.

The American Shea Butter Institute warns that one of the main healing components in shea butter, cinnamic acid, is less present in inferior brands.  They have issued classifications of different grades of quality and the best grade with the highest cinnamic acid content is Grade A.

Here at SUZOTIC, we only use unrefined, Grade A shea butter.  There are many refined ones that are odor free and bleached to be completely white, but the refining process removes some of the beneficial properties.
