FAQ's

Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked the most about our whipped body butters.

What is the difference between a Body Butter and a Lotion?

The difference between a Body Butter and a Lotion is the composition. The rich ingredients(oils and natural butters like Shea) provide a moisturizing mixture with the absence of water unlike lotion.

What is Shea Butter?

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. Another one of the most popular and well known body butters, shea butter is high in vitamins a, e and f, provides collagen (to assist prevention of skin aging & wrinkles), and contains essential fatty acids.  Un-refined shea butter does have a noticeable nutty aroma and has a faintly yellowish color.

What is Cocoa Butter?

Cocoa butter is an edible fat obtained from the cacao bean pod. One of the most popular and well known body butters, it is naturally high in vitamin E to help hydrate and soothe skin, and contains natural antioxidants.  Because it is a fantastic thickening agent you will often find cocoa butter in lipsticks, lip balms, soaps and creams.

What is Mango Butter?

Mango butter comes from the kernals of the tropical mango tree. The texture and composition resembles shea and cocoa butter yet it contains more fatty acids making it a more intense moisturizer. This butter provides skin softness, soothing and moisturizing properties, and is a natural emollient. Mango butter tends to be rich, white in color with a mildly sweet scent.

Is shea butter better than mango butter?

Unrefined Shea Butter is more nutrient-rich than Mango Butter, so that is always our #1 choice. However, Mango Butter is 100% pure and is a wonderful moisturizer that beats any lab-made, store-bought lotion.

What is mango butter good for?

Since mango butter is a rich moisturizer, it is very soothing and healing.  It is emollient, highly moisturizing, and very nourishing.  The Vitamin C in mango butter helps it to boost the skin, brightening it, while the Vitamin A helps to increase the skin’s youthful appearance, reducing fine lines.

Will mango butter penetrate hair?

Mango butter instantly nourishes and hydrates the hair, this will promote softer, healthier hair when using it on a regular basis. Mango butter is also great at reducing symptoms such as dandruff, eczema and psoriasis by regenerating healthy cells through its moisture-rich and healing properties

What happens if you put body butter in your hair?

A natural body butter can be also used for dry and stressed hair. Take a small amount of the butter let it melt from the warmth of your hand before applying to the tip of your hair. Just wash it with warm water, dry it and enjoy silky and fragrant hair

Can I use body butter on my face?

You want to be careful about what you put on your face if you have acne, sensitive skin or oily skin. Generally, however, body butter is safe to use on your face and the risk of irritation or other undesirable effects is low.   Since Mango Butter is non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores or aggravate acne-prone skin) we recommend using Mango butter for its rich, nourishing nature. It can also be beneficial for those suffering from skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Can I put body butter on my lips?

Dry and cracked lips can be quite annoying. Cocoa butter can do wonders to your lips as it can keep them hydrated, soft and supple for a longer period of time. STAY TUNED!!  Suzotic will be rolling out a lip line soon.

Can I use Body Butter after shaving?

Body butter is a wonderful alternative to shaving cream.  It provides skin with a protective barrier and allows for a close and smooth shave.  Next time you run out of shaving cream, don’t stress! Grab a moisturizer, wet skin, and use a new razor to achieve a great shave.

Does cocoa body butter help stretch marks?

Cocoa body butter is a nourishing moisturizer for dry skin and has anti-aging skin care benefits to keep your complexion smooth and bright. It helps fight cellulite, dark spots, scars, and stretch marks.

If your body butter melts is it still good to use?

Yes, melting does not affect the quality or safety of the butters.Your butters are still good to use and have all the quality benefits for the skin.Just place the product in the fridge so that they may re-solidify, and they will be fine.

Why does whipped body butter turn black?

If your body butter turns black, it means that it has been contaminated by water and it has caused bacteria and mold to grow. Your body butter needs to then be discarded.  Butter and oil-based products have a shelf life of up to a year once created, but all liquid must be kept from these organic butters.

Is it normal for body butter to be grainy in texture?

This is common.  Especially with Shea.  One of the biggest problems with using Shea is having to deal with that grainy texture.  That grainy texture is the uneven heating and cooling of the butter during processing.  While this texture might be pretty displeasing to apply on your skin, the good news is that it does not mean that your shea butter has gone bad – it’s just the separation of fatty acids and it does not affect the quality of the shea in any way.

How long does it take to prepare an order for shipping?

Because our body butters are whipped to order, we ask that our customers allow 3-5 business days for production and roughly 5-10 business days for shipping.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Because SUZOTIC is a growing business, shipping outside of the US is not an option just yet.  However, it is definitely on our radar and we plan to be able to offer this soon.
